Yahaira Lawrence is a fiction writer. She’s a 2024 Kimbilio Fellow. She has been awarded fellowships and received support from the Ucross Foundation, Monson Arts, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Tin House, the Jack Jones Literary Arts Retreat, MacDowell, and the Rona Jaffe Foundation. She was also recognized as a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow Finalist in Fiction from The New York Foundation for the Arts.
Her work has appeared in Kweli Journal and several Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies. She’s currently working on a novel and a collection of short stories that focus on her Black and Latino culture and her upbringing in the South Bronx. She lives in New York.
